The Challis National Forest has many areas of scenic beauty in its two and a half million acres of land and water. Scenic points include the headwaters of the Salmon River and Borah Peak, towering 12,662 feet, the highest mountain in Idaho.
Areas of special interest in the forest include the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness and the Middle Fork Wild and Scenic River. The forest offers unlimited year-round recreation. Twenty-six campgrounds are sited within the forest, which also maintains more than 1,600 miles of developed trails for the hiker and backpacker.
