Established in 1972, the SNRA is managed by the US Forest Service. Over 300 alpine lakes dot the area. Sawtooth, Boulder, and White Cloud mountains are the headwaters of five major rivers including the Salmon and Big Wood. Good roads and short loop excursions make this route increasingly popular. The SNRA headquarters are eight miles north of Ketchum on Hwy 75. Summer hours are daily 8:00 to 5:00. In winter, they are 8:00 to 4:30.

Ponderosa Pine Relay Cascade ID July19-20 Distance is 194.89. A shorter sprint race from McCall to Cascade is 62.5 miles. Teams finish at Kelly's Whitewater Park in Cascade.
Shoshone-Bannock Festival/Powwow Ketchum ID August9-11 This three-day outdoor exhibition of 130 artists from around the country features a wide range of unique handmade fine arts and crafts including painting, photography, fiber, ceramic, metal, jewelry and woodwork.
