An old cypress swamp converted into a waterfowl hunting area, the conversation area offers 25 permanent waterfowl blinds and 2 flooded walk-in areas. Located a half mile southwest of Mermet on U.S. 45, Mermet Lake has set aside 43 of its 2,625 acres as a nature preserve.

Mermet encompasses two counties, Massac County and Johnson County and is located halfway between Metropolis and Vienna.
