Rock-blasting operations conducted by railroad crews in 1859 gave Rock Cut State Park its name. Located 1.5 miles north of the Riverside Boulevard exit off Interstate 90 north of Rockford, the park's 3,100 acres are host to a full range of summer and winter activities, including fishing, swimming, camping, and cross-country skiing.
