Lake Monroe is the largest lake in Indiana, located just one hour south of Indianapolis, and 10 minutes from Bloomington, home of Indiana University. The lake is home to a wildlife refuge and provides a nesting area for bald eagles. Monroe Reservoir is 10,750 acres water with 23,952 total. Lake Monroe has three state recreational areas: Hardin Ridge, Paynetown, and Fairfax. The lake is served by a full service marina.
