Located 3 miles from Strong City. This 109 acre lake, which was constructed in 1954, is located in the center of the scenic Flint Hills region of Kansas. The lake and surrounding 383-acre wildlife area are owned and managed by the Kansas Dept. of Wildlife and Parks.
In addition to fishing, visitors will find campsites and a shelter house, primitive camping only. Facilities at this lake include: picnic tables, grills, pit toilets and a boat ramp.
While there are scattered stands of shade trees near the water, the immediate surrounding area is tallgrass prairie.
the flower Rose Verbena may often be spotted growing from rocky crevices on the hillsides. Give it a sniff! Rose Verbena has a delightful fragrance. Be on the Lookout for collared lizards, Great Plains skinks, ringneck snakes, prairie king snakes, and racers. If you search under the rocks be sure to replace them in the same position that you found them.
