Founded: 1884, Population: 624, Elevation: 2150 ft. Haviland is located in the Southwest Region of the state, in eastern Kiowa County, On US Hwy-54. The Southern Pacific rails run just south of the small downtown. Haviland was settled by Quakers from Indiana and has the historic Barclay College at the north end of town. One of the oldest buildings is marked: "Kansas Central Bible School, 1917, Haviland Academy, 1892". The town has two excellent church structures, the Haviland Friends Church and the United Methodist Church.
