Founded: 1858, Population: (2000) 2,122, Elevation: 1131. Seneca is the county seat of Nemaha County and within the Northeast Region of the state. Located between Marysville and Hiawatha on U.S. Highway 36.
Vasquez de Coronado is said to have reached the Kansas-Nebraska border somewhere in the vicinity of Seneca. He described the land as rich and fertile with huge herds of buffalo and abundant deer.
Seneca plays host to a myriad of industries and businesses and is home to about 2,500 citizens.
