A post village of Morris County, is situated in the northwestern portion on the Little Osage River, about 20 miles northwest of Fort Scott National Historic Site, the county seat. It has a money order post office.

Nestled in a quiet area, life in Xenia during the 19th and 20th centuries must have seemed very remote from the troubles of 'Bleeding Kansas" and all strains of modern America. Yet Xenia's residents seem to have been representative of the very heart and soul of the American Dream.
