Wonderscope Children's Museum, located in Shawnee, provides an interactive environment for children, their families, and school or community groups to explore science, technology, the arts, and humanities. The museum holds a tree house, a bird-watching station, a greenhouse, aquariums, an indoor garden patch, children's mercy hospital, wonderscope, replica of a lunar landing module, monitors with continuous footage of space travel, a wall mural depicting space, and an ATV to ride.

The museum also boasts an art workshop, science lab, indoor picnic area, and raceways. The museum conducts story-telling, puppet shows, and musical performances.

Heart of America Shakespeare Festival Kansas City MO June18-July7 The Heart of America Shakespeare Festival is set under the stars in South Moreland Park near Nelson Atkins Museum of Art. It is a perfect way to spend a summer evening with family and friends. They have several programs to study and explore such as Speaker's Bureau and Poster and Sonnet Contest. The faculty includes theatre professionals, actors, and educators experienced in performing and teaching Shakespeare. Many of the instructors are veterans of festival productions.
