Formed in 1992, Acme Theater Productions is a community theater group that struggled for years to survive as a drama group, without a permanent home or financial 'angel'. Located in Maynard, about 10 miles from the greater Boston area, the founding group attracted kindred workers and actors and led a nomadic existence performing in local high school auditoriums, church halls, and other local dramatic group theaters, giving performances that won awards and competitions, first locally, then regionally, nationally and internationally. In the summer of 2000, Acme became an IRS-certified 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, and established its permanent home in a community-supported former school building.
