These 17 islands ranging in size from just under one acre to more than 200 acres are scattered throughout Boston Harbor. They are managed as a unique state park, with six islands staffed and open for daily public use. Harbor Islands are a natural resource, less than an hour's ferry ride from downtown Boston. Visitors to the park enjoy shell and slate beaches, flowering meadows, historic structures, hiking paths, picnic and camping areas, birds and wildlife.
