Dunes constantly reshaped by storm and wind, 40 miles of coastline, marshland, glacial cliffs and dense forests accent the 44,000 acre Cape Cod National Seashore. Spared the scars of industrial buildup, the beaches, ponds and open fields remain protected in a natural state. The cape also is marked by weathered cottages, villages and lighthouses.
The National Seashore is open all year. Park headquarter is at the Marconi area in South Wellfleet.
Guided walks and lectures are offered in April through November. Self-guiding trails are open all year.
