Kalkaska is in Kalkaska County (of which it is the county seat), and in the Northern Region. You can locate this community just east of Traverse City between Cadillac and Boyne City along US Highway 131 on the banks of the Boardman River near Crawford and Round lakes. The village of Kalkaska was incorporated in 1887 Kalkaska is the home of the county fair, and the annual National Trout Festival in the spring. Like other Northern Michigan communities, Kalkaska has been receiving a continued growth, with new industries moving to this area for its quality of life and the natural beauty of the surrounding area.
