Lexington is in Sanilac County, and in the Central Region. You can locate this community north of Port Huron along the banks of Lake Huron on State Hwy 25.
Lexington has a historic colonial village, with a 116 year old general store. In the 1830's, Lexington was the first settlement on the shore of Lake Huron north of Port Huron. Three permanent boat docks were built up by 1870 and initially lumber, then agricultural products including fruits were being shipped. A large storm destroyed these docks in 1913. Unfortunately, the population which had grown to over 2,000 declined to 326 by 1940.
Today, boating is still an important part of life for the folks in Lexington.
