Marenisco is in Gogebic County, and in the Northern Region. This community is located on US Hwy 2 east of Ironwood.

Marenisco's settlement began around 1887, upon the platting of the town by the Milwaukee, Lake Shore & Western Railway

Today, this town's growth has been gradual but although at present a small place, it has promising prospects for the future. There is a large saw mill situated here on the Big Presque Isle River which runs near the limits of the town, owned and operated by the firm of Curtis & Stone. Marenisco has a supply of pine timber on the Presque Isle River and its branches are quite extensive; Therefore, lasting for a number of years to come.
