Northfield Hospital and its attached long-term care center are owned by the city and serve approximately 50,000 area residents who live in Rice, Dakota, Scott and Goodhue counties.

Their 370 employees offer emergency services, including an emergency room with round the clock physician staffing; critical care; birthing services; a full complement of skilled surgeons; high-tech diagnostic imaging; comprehensive rehabilitation services; chemotherapy; home care and hospice.
It is currently the anchor of a new integrated health campus, which will include facilities for a Primary Care Clinic and specialized facilities for cardiology, oncology and accommodations for visiting specialists.
