Fort Davidson served as an earthen fortification that was occupied by Union forces during the 1864 Battle of Pilot Knob, and its remains overlook the 37-acre battlefield where an estimated 1,000 Confederate soldiers were killed, wounded and lost in action. Less than 200 of the fort's Union defenders were lost in the battle. A modern visitor center displays exhibits which illustrate the events of the historic battle. Located in Pilot Knob, off Hwy 21.
