This state historic site honors the highest-ranking military officer in US history and commanding general Of American Expeditionary Forces during World War I, grew up in Laclede. His boyhood home is a museum that includes displays pertaining to Pershing's life and career, as well as local history. The one room Prairie Mound School, where Pershing once taught, is also located at the site. Guided tours of the house are available. Located one mile north of Hwy 36.
