This is the heart of Independence - where visitors and locals alike enjoy coming "Uptown" for unique shopping, antique-hunting and historic dining. Harry S Truman began his political career as a County Judge in the Square's historic courthouse. Four sites and several historic markers can be found right on the square.

It is a perfect way to spend a summer evening with family and friends. They have several programs to study and explore such as Speaker's Bureau and Poster and Sonnet Contest. The faculty includes theatre professionals, actors, and educators experienced in performing and teaching Shakespeare. Many of the instructors are veterans of festival productions.
