Independence Regional Health Center, formerly known as The Independence Sanitarium, opened in 1909. As the oldest hospital in eastern Jackson County, they have a rich history of serving patients in their community. They are a 363-bed acute-care facility located on Truman Road just east of Interstate 435.
Independence Regional Health Center (IRHC) and the Medical Center of Independence work in tandem to assist the residents of eastern Jackson County and western Lafayette counties. Their extensive array of services at IRHC are made possible by 300 dedicated physicians, nearly 250 registered nurses, 300 active volunteers and more than 1000 employees. Independence Regional is dedicated to offering the highest quality of health care to those they serve.
IRHC is fully accredited with commendation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and a member of the Independence Chamber of Commerce.
