Kindred Hospital St. Louis is an acute care specialty hospital with 60 beds, including a five-bed ICU and a four-bed hemodialysis unit. Accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and certified by Medicare, the hospital specializes in treating catastrophically ill patients and uses an integrated multidisciplinary team approach in providing care.
They offer 24-hour in-house physician coverage, as well as specialty consults as needed (for infectious disease, pulmonology, nephrology, psychiatry, and others). Their in-house physicians are not part of another health system; thus, Kindred patients are their sole priority.
Another important difference at Kindred is the active involvement of patients and their families as part of the care team. They also ensure continued communication with the patient?s physician from the referring facility.
