Montgomery City is located in Montgomery County, of which it is the county seat, 46 miles E of Columbia between Wellsville and New Florence along Highway 19 near Graham Cave State Park and Danville Wildlife Area. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 2,327, an increase of 46 since 1990.
