The 1847 Italianate home was the residence of General Stephen D. Lee and contains many of his personal effects as well as Civil War memorabilia. Open Fridays 10-4 or by special appointment. Admission. Home of General Stephen D. Lee, who gave the order to fire the first shot at Fort Sumter during the Civil War. Restored in 1960 by the Historical Society and the Society for the Preservation of Antiquities. Operated as a house-museum.
