The Capital/River Region of Mississippi spans from its capital, Jackson, to the bluffs along the Mississippi River. Jackson offers great art, natural science and history museums, numerous restaurants and plentiful shopping. The small town of Canton, north of Jackson, is becoming a desirable location for filmmakers.
To the west, the River Region boasts numerous Civil War monuments and battlesites, and historic bed and breakfast inns. Natchez has many antebellum mansions, and in Vicksburg simulated battles are constantly replayed at the Vicksburg National Military Park. The home of the president of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis, is located in Woodville.
