The Flathead Valley is miles wide, green and rimmed with the peaks of the Swans and Missions and Glacier National Park. Flathead Lake sits in the middle, a jeweled centerpiece. People come to the Flathead Valley to play. Here they can boat, swim, hike, golf, shop, camp, fish, birdwatch, snowmobile, ski, sight-see and dine in four-star restaurants.
Polson, Lakeside and Bigfork are the principal towns on the lake itself. Kalispell is the largest city in the valley. Farther north is the resort town of Whitefish and Columbia Falls, gateway to Glacier National Park.
