Stevensville is located in Ravalli County 28 miles south of Missoula on the way to Hamilton on US 93 on the banks of the Bitterroot River near Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge. Flanked by the Bitterroot and Sapphire mountains, this small, historic town in the Bitterroot Valley offers the Stevensville Museum. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 2,046, an increase of 825 since 1990.
