Grand Falls is the only town in Canada whose name is in both official languages, Grand Falls in English, and Grand Sault, in French. The town was named after the largest waterfall east of Niagara Falls that drops 75 feet.
The falls and gorge in the town is one of the top ten attractions in New Brunswick, along with the many walking trails, lookouts over the Gorge, boat rides below the falls, and seventy meter cliffs.
The majority of the citizens in Grand Falls are bilingual.
