Located 21 km from the Border Exit 21 and Route 144, St-Basile is rich in culture and heritage. The first French settlement in the area goes back to 1785, where the first Acadian families settled. French Canadians joined them shortly thereafter. Historic places to visit in the town include the parish cemetery and chapel on Principal Street, the Cyr House, built in 1810, the Martin House, the Religious Hospitallers Convent, and more.
