Offers one-hour guided tours led by docents in period dress. Tours begin at the Beaufort Historical Association Welcome Center. Included is the 1767 Joseph Bell House; its 18th-century furnishings and formal garden provide an example of early Beaufort architecture. The tour also includes the 1796 Carteret County Courthouse with its original 13-star American flag; the 1829 county jail; the 1859 apothecary shop; the 1778 Samuel Leffers Cottage and the 1825 Josiah Bell House. The 1732 Rustell House serves as an art gallery. Tours are offered at 10, 11:30am, 1 and 3pm; daily hours vary; call ahead.
