Chartered in 1789; although not the first university chartered, UNC became the first in the nation to accept and graduate students. A pre-recorded walking tour of the historic campus is available; visitors may pick up brochures and tape players in the west lobby of Morehead Planetarium. Visitor parking is available in a number of municipal lots on Franklin and Rosemary streets. Walking tours Monday-Friday 10am-4pm; reservations are recommended. Free to the public.
