Leonard is located in southeastern North Dakota in Cass County about 25 miles southwest of Fargo.

An intersting day trip is the Maple Creek Crossing Historic Site located about 5 miles north of town. The crossing was used by settlers and freight wagons on their way along the Pembina Trail, a major transportation artery of early North Dakota history. In addition, Ft. Ransom State Historic Site is about 30 miles to the southwest.

Outdoor lovers enjoy their outings at Fort Ransom State Park along the Sheyenne River. For golfers, Leonard Sand Hills Golf Course offers a 9-hole, par 36, 3,000-yard challenge.
