Morton County Library, serving an area of 8,400 residents, has a collection of 25,000 books and periodicals; in addition, there are 540 CDs, records, cassettes and other audio materials, as well as 390 video items, such as DVDs and VHS tapes.
Staffing consists of 3 employees, including one fully accredited librarian, plus volunteers. The system comprises one central library, plus one bookmobile. Annual expenditures on the library collection total $12,600. Patrons make 16,800 visits annually, and check out materials 39,000 times. Fifty-eight percent of all check-outs are children's materials.
