Strasburg is located in southern North Dakota in Emmons County along U.S. Highway 83 about 75 miles southeast of Bismarck and 25 miles east of Lake Oahe.

The town is noted as being the birthplace and hometown of Lawerence Welk. His orchestra and show were favorites with television viewers for 26 years.

For outdoor lovers, Rice Lake is located about 10 miles to the southeast while Green Lake and Doyle Memorial State Park are 40 miles east of town.
