Search Visit North Dakota

The Turtle River rises in eastern North Dakota flowing generally in an easterly direction until just west of Mekinock where it turns north to empty into the Red River of the North.

The river is the focal point for Turtle River State Park which is about 20 miles west of Grand Forks. The 800-acre park features 125 campsites some with full hookups with showers available to all. The river and park are favorites with youngsters as the river is stocked with rainbow trout and the park has fishing equipment to loan.
