Auburn is located in Nemaha County (of which it is the county seat), south of Nebraska City on US Hwy 75, near Brownville, Nemaha River and the Missouri State line.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 3,409, a decrease of 34 since 1990.

The city of Auburn has two small fishing lakes, four city parks, basketball, volleyball, tennis courts, country club, and a 150' long water slide for your enjoyment.
