Brady is located in Lincoln County, east of North Platte, between Gothenburg and Maxwell off of US Hwy 30, near the Platte River and the Poney Express Route.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 343, an increase of 12 since 1990.

Brady was founded in 1889. It originated along the railroad, and provided a resting spot for the weary travelers. With more and more people heading west, it made a good location for motels, general stores and other services for pioneers.

Some popular attractions in Brady include: Chester Island, Palmer Park, Jeffery Lake,Fattig Fish Hatchery and the Loess Hills.
