Brownell-Talbot School is Nebraska's only private, independent, co-educational, college preparatory day school. This school was opened in 1863, as a girls' boarding school offering the daughters of the pioneer families settling the Nebraska territory the educational advantages available in the East. To assist in the determination of each student’s progress, standardized achievement tests published by the Educational Records Bureau are administered in the spring. The school is accredited by the Nebraska State Department of Education and also by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States.
