New Hampshire's only botanical state park, Rhodendendron State Park features 16 acres of wild rhododendrons with flowers blossoming in mid-July. This National Natural Landmark, which was designated in 1982, is one of the largest tracts of the hardy shrubs north of the Allegheny Mountains.
The park also includes a wildflower trail with blooming flowers from early spring through the first frost, and is maintained by the local Fitzwilliam Garden Club. The trail winds through the forest adjacent to the grove of this 2,723-acre park.
The park is open but is only staffed weekends, from Memorial Day through Labor Day and is not maintained for winter use.
