The Villa Philmonte was built in 1927 and used as a private summer home until 1941, and is now a museum. Guided tours are available by appointment throughout the year. Also located at Philmonte are is the Philmonte Museum, Seton Memorial Library, and The Kit Carson Museum at Rayado, which is a certified site on the historic
Santa Fe Trail. Open year-round, the Seton Library houses seasonal exhibits and collections of Ernest Thompson Seton, famed naturalist and a founder of the Boy Scouts of America.
