Chautauqua is located in Chautauqua County15 miles NW of Jamestown between Hartfield and Dewittville along Highway 430. A summer arts and education center bordering Chautaugua Lake, Chautaugua Institution is a secluded community whose population reaches as high as 7,500 during the summer. Victorian cottages line narrow wooded streets that slope down to the water; boating, fishing and swimming are among the activities available on the lake.
