Chittenango is located in Madison County and is part of the Syracuse, New York metropolitan area. It is in the Central Region of the state. Its name derives from Indian term for "where the waters divide". Well-known residents have included: L. Frank Baum, author of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz".
