Built on the site of its predecessor in 1875, this is the second of the Point Gratiot lighthouses, the first of which was built in 1827. The museum in the keeper's quarters exhibits armed services and war memorabilia, as well as displays with a lighthouse and its keepers' theme. Also on site is the Coast Guard and submarine exhibit. Other structures include: cistern, barn, oil house (1875), bandstand (in museum), 1926 lifesaving boat, and 45-ft buoy tender and 50- and 21-ft towers from the 20s.
