The 55,000 people who live in Chenango County enjoy the advantage of an outstanding community hospital in their midst. Chenango Memorial was founded in 1912 and modernized in 1990 with a $7.5 million renovation plan. A 139-bed facility located in the City of Norwich, the hospital has 600 employees, making it the largest employer in the city and the fifth largest in the county.
The hospital includes a medical/surgical unit, residential care unit, newborn family center, urology department, pediatric unit, intensive care, emergency department/walk-in care center and residential long-term care facility.
Chenango Memorial primary care network is the countys central source for preventative and medical care. With family health centers in Sherburne, Bainbridge, Oxford and Norwich, patients in rural areas have access to quality primary care in their own neighborhoods. The network also includes an internal medicine group, a womens health center and a walk-in center.
