For more than eighty years, Bank Street College of Education has been a leader in child-centered education. Composed of a Graduate School of Education, a model School for Children, an onsite Family Center, a Division of Continuing Education, and a Publications and Media Group, Bank Street influences thousands of children, youths, parents, and educators throughout the United States and abroad. The college has worked with the Federal government to design the Civil Rights Act of 1965, as well as the national Head Start and Follow Through programs; published the Bank Street Readers, the first multiracial, urban-oriented readers for young children.
