Caldwell is located in southeastern Ohio in Noble County (of which it is the county seat) along I-77 and SR 78. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,903, an increase of 117 since 1990. Nearby recreation is centered around Wolf Run Lake about 5 miles north of town, Senecaville Lake 10 miles to the northeast, Wayne National Forest within about 15 miles to the east and south as well as the Ohio River about 25 miles south.
