Freeport is located in eastern Ohio in Harrison County about 60 miles south of Akron and 15 miles west of Cadiz, the county seat.

For those that enjoy watersports, the town is situated about 5 miles southwest of Clendening Lake and about the same northwest of Piedmont Lake. In addition, Tappan Lake lies just 15 statute miles to the north. The nearest state park is Salt Fork State Park located 15 miles southwest of town.
