Geneva is located in northeastern Ohio in Ashtabula County 45 miles northeast of Cleveland and 10 miles northwest of Jeffersonville just north of the Grand River about 4 miles south of Lake Erie. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 6,883, an increase of 286 since 1990.

For golfers, the city offers Deer Lake Golf Course, a public 18-hole facility and Hemlock Springs Golf Club also a public 18-holer. Other nearby recreation can involve activities around Pymatuning Lake about 25 miles to the southeast.
