The western terminus for Interstate 480 in Ohio is about 25 miles southwest of Cleveland between Elyria and Grafton. The journey from west to east is roughly in the shape of an arc touching Cleveland's southern outskirts before merging with I-80 just east of Hudson.

The arterial has several major interchanges including those with I-80 near Ridgeville, I-71 near Fairview Park, I-77 near Brooklyn Heights and I-271 (with which it shares concrete for a few miles) between Bedford and Northfield southeast of Cleveland. It passes Tinkers Creek State Park about two miles before reaching its eastern terminus with I-80 again near Streetsboro.
