Interstate 76's western terminus is in southern Medina County at its interchange with I-71. It heads in an easterly direction for about 15 miles before taking a quick jog north to intersect with I-77 in the soutern Akron area. The highway then turns northeast for about 15 miles and then heads east again where it meets I-80 in northern Mahoning County just west of Meander Creek Reservoir. It then turns to the southeast, passes through Canfield and enters Pennsylvania just southeast of New Middletown.
